Scholarships and Grants for Students
Chosen annually, APTA Virginia honors students who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of physical therapy through research, performance, leadership, and innovation.
The student grants and scholarships acknowledge the association’s appreciation of the inspiring contributions that have lasting impact, demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, and deliver exceptional results in physical therapy.

APTA Virginia will award two $500 grants for students who wish to attend the APTA Combined Sections Meeting (CSM). Grant recipients are selected based on their participation in previous and future APTA events, as well as school activities and other community events. Preference will be given to potential or current school leaders or student SIG members. All VPTA student members are encouraged to apply, regardless of the number of applicants from their program.
Student Virginia is for Learners Grant
APTA Virginia will award two $100 grants for students who wish to attend Virginia is for Learners (VA4L). Grant recipients are selected based on their participation in previous and future APTA events, as well as school activities and other community events. Preference will be given to potential or current school leaders or student SIG members. All VPTA student members are encouraged to apply, regardless of the number of applicants from their program.
This scholarship recognizes demonstrated participation in minority affairs activities & services, the potential for superior achievements in the profession of physical therapy, appropriate display of professionalism as a future physical therapist or physical therapist assistant, and academic excellence.
Minimum requirements: Applicants must be within 12 months of completing all requirements for graduation. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident and a member of one of the following racial/ethnic minority groups: African American or black, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Hispanic/Latino.

Board members and Awards Committee members are not eligible nor can they nominate, write letters of support, or endorse an individual for these awards per Policy and Procedures; and

The Awards Committee will make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding which applicant should receive the awards.
