APTA Presents 2022 Recognition of Legislative Commitment Award



Dr. Tom Bohanon, PT, DPT, OCS of InMotion Physical Therapy in Richmond Honored with
Prestigious Recognition of Legislative Commitment Award

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) recently honored Dr. Tom Bohanon, PT, DPT, OCS, owner and senior Physical Therapist at InMotion Physical Therapy, with the association's 2022 esteemed Recognition of Legislative Commitment Award. Bohanon was presented this prestigious award during the APTA Leadership Congress at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C., August 12-16, 2022.
 
The Recognition of Legislative Commitment Award recognizes and rewards component leaders in the area of state legislative leadership who bring increased awareness and involvement to state legislative issues and who achieve success in state legislative issues that strengthen the practice of physical therapy.
 
Bohanon presently serves as APTA Virginia's Legislative Committee Chair and Owner and Senior Physical Therapist at InMotion Physical Therapy. He received a Master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, PA in 2001 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2008 from Virginia Commonwealth University. Tom has extensive post-graduate training and clinical experience in orthopedics, sports medicine and treatment of the spine.
 
He worked for HealthSouth Sports Medicine and Orthopedics from 2001 to 2006. During his time at Health South he worked with professional athletes including golfers, football, baseball, and hockey players. Tom opened InMotion Physical Therapy in 2006 with the mission of providing quality direct care to patients, with a focus on research based treatments current treatment techniques, and a superior customer experience. He assisted in co-founding PTWEBUCATION.com an online continuing education company.
 
Tom stays actively involved in the profession by volunteering his time to teach Physical Therapy Techniques at Virginia Commonwealth University in its Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is active in the American Physical Therapy Association of Virginia working to improve direct access and workmen's compensation laws, access to Physical Therapists for Virginians, and currently serves as the Legislative Committee Chair and Immediate Past President. Tom also serves as Delegate to the American Physical Therapy Association's House of Delegates.
 
Tom enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife and three sons camping, fishing, boating, and practicing Judo.
