Sessions 2: Fall summit 2026: Open House Proposal Development Session
The doors are open! Join us for help sessions on January 20, 2026. This session will be free of charge, but we ask that participants sign up in advance so we can plan accordingly. In these one-hour sessions, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review your conference proposal idea in a group format.
  • Use a rubric to assess your proposal.
  • Identify strategies to strengthen weak points in your proposal.
  • Learn how to effectively organize your content and use visual aids to enhance your message.

If you have an idea for a presentation at the APTA Virginia Fall Summit but need assistance refining it or navigating the proposal process, these sessions are perfect for you. By the end of these workshops, attendees will be well-prepared to share their expertise with a wider audience and contribute to the advancement of physical therapy practice.

We are seeking presentations on a variety of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Specific Populations: Orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics
    • Hot Topics: Latest evidence updates, applying basic science/neuroscience to drive intervention and cutting-edge practices
    • Cardiovascular Dosing: Updates on exercise testing
    • High-Intensity Training
    • Pain Science: Implications for orthopedics or complex populations
    • Pelvic Floor: Pediatric/Adult 
    • Movement Systems
    • Lifespan Management of Health Conditions
  • Translating Research to Practice: Case-based assessment and interventions for specific populations (eg may be pair clinician with researcher, implementation of CPGs, evidence-based interventions.)
  • Osteoporosis
  • Population Health Levels of Intervention to promote health and wellness in specific populations
  • Autonomic Nervous System Regulation
  • Functional Neurologic Disorders
  • Mental Health
  • PTA and PT student and new graduate focused topics (ie Imposter Syndrome, Student Debt, etc)
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence to enhance a specific aspect of care: gathering evidence regarding specific diagnoses, documentation, research.

Timeline

March 27, 2026 Deadline to submit applications
March 16- April 15 Peer reviewers review applications
April 16-May 30 Education Committee selects applications.
June 1 – June 30 Chosen applicants to submit deliverables to staff (i.e. speaker agreements, photos, bios, welcome video, etc.)
October 1 Submit digital copy of handouts to staff, if any.
October / November Present at Fall Summit
