Pediatric Sig Cafe Presents: Learn the Signs. Act Early.

Learn the Signs. Act Early.:
Updates and Implications for Physical Therapists

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated the materials for its developmental surveillance program, “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” in February 2022. An evidence-based revision of the developmental milestone checklists was a major focus of the update. There was a great deal of discussion and debate within the pediatric physical therapy community over the updates. This live virtual event will discuss the motivation for and content of the updates and place them in context for pediatric physical therapists.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define and compare/contrast each of the following: developmental monitoring/surveillance, developmental screening, and developmental evaluation/assessment;
  • Describe the goals of the CDC's “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” developmental surveillance program and the content of the 2022 updates; and
  • Understand the roles pediatric physical therapists play in implementing developmental surveillance.
