Margie Nguyen - PTA Awardee!

APTA Virginia has an award called the PTA Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize physical therapist assistants who have made an outstanding contribution to clinical practice and to the physical therapist assistants' development through APTA Virginia participation. We are happy to announce that this year's awardee is Margie Nguyen, PTA, BS.
My name is Margie Nguyen, I am a home health physical therapist assistant in Northern Virginia. I graduated from the PTA program at Northern Virginia Community College in 2018 and received my B.S. in Exercises Science from Old Dominion University in 2013. I am also the founder of NOTJUSTAPTA, LLC where I connect, network, mentor and advocate for physical therapist assistants and student physical therapist assistants. My main platform is Instagram (@notjustapta) where I host #TherapyTalk Thursday on Instagram Live and bring on different PTAs and SPTAs to tell their story. I believe that everyone has a story about their journey as a PTA and it is important to highlight and share that story. I wanted to be a resource that I didn't/couldn't find as a student or new grad transitioning into the field. Something that started as a social media page, blew up in just a few short years, has given me so many amazing opportunities such as attending my first CSM in 2022, meeting some incredible people in the physical therapy field and opened many doors for me. I am hoping that by having my platform, it inspires other physical therapist assistants out there to start their own platform so we can have more representation and show the diversity in our field.
We will be recognizing all awardees at the Annual Members meeting which will be held November 5 at Emory and Henry. (Find out more here.) We hope to see you there at our Fall Summit to help recognize our awardees!
